Time saved is an estimate, and we would rather say so than dress it up: it compares your words against a 38 words-per-minute phone-typing baseline from published research. Your speaking pace is measured over recorded audio, pauses included — it is not a typing speed.

All of it is computed from the history already on your machine. Nothing extra is collected to make these numbers.
